Job summary

Role Description The Optometric Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Austin, TX. This role supports the optometrists by performing pre-testing, gathering patient history, and preparing patients for comprehensive eye exams. Daily tasks include operating diagnostic equipment, assisting with contact lens fittings and trainings, updating medical records, and helping maintain an organized and efficient medical office environment. The Optometric Technician also helps with appointment scheduling, coordinates patient flow, and provides clear, courteous communication to ensure a positive patient experience.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to interact effectively with patients and team members.
• Candidates should possess contact lens and optometric Office skills to manage patient flow and administrative tasks efficiently.
• Candidates should possess foundational Optometry knowledge to perform pre-testing, use diagnostic equipment including A/R, NCT, Optos, and support clinical procedures
• Experience in a healthcare or eye care setting, familiarity with Crystal PM electronic health records is a bonus, and attention to detail in documentation are beneficial.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, follow clinical protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; prior optometric or medical assisting experience or relevant certification is a plus
