Job summary

VisionWorks in Kingston, NY is seeking a Clinical Specialist/Optometric Assistant to help ensure a great patient experience. You will prepare patients for onsite and remote exams, perform pre-exam tests, and explain each step of the process.

The role supports both in-store and remote visits with a pay range of $17.00 to $25.50 per hour. Requires at least 1 year of related experience and an optical/healthcare background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of related experience in optical or healthcare settings.
• Experience with patient registration and medical history collection preferred.
• Ability to explain testing steps and procedures to patients.
• Basic understanding of insurance preauthorization and exam flow.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for onsite or remote examinations and complete pre-exam tests.
• Assist onsite optometrists during patient visits and document results in EMR.
• Support remote eye exams including pre-testing, remote conferencing, and documentation.
• Transition patient care to retail staff with clear doctor recommendations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and explain contact lens handling to patients.
• Schedule follow-up exams and manage appointment books with no-shows and cancellations.
