Job summary

fab2 seeks an Optomechanical Engineer to join a full-stack team developing tools and processes for semiconductor packaging devices. You will design laser-based systems, perform precision assembly, and integrate controls to deliver reliable hardware and repeatable processes.

The role emphasizes hands-on hardware development, system integration, and collaborating across mechanical, electrical, and software domains to push technology boundaries in packaging solutions.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience designing, building, integrating, or modifying process equipment or instruments.
• Experience with optomechanical system design and integration, including mechanical, optics, assembly, wiring and alignment.
• Experience developing laser micromachining processes and vision-based alignment.
• Proficiency in metrology and failure analysis with custom tools or methods.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-moving R&D environment from concept to validated hardware.

Responsibilities

• Own optomechanical system development from concept to operation, including mechanical design and alignment.
• Develop laser micromachining processes and equipment with vision-based checks.
• Create and validate novel IC packaging processes across multi-step flows.
• Plan and run experiments across deposition, etch, lithography, bonding and die attach.
• Collaborate across process, mechanical, electrical, controls, and software teams to ship hardware.
• Document designs, experiments, SOPs, and maintenance requirements for reliability.
