Job summary

VIAVI Solutions is seeking a Production Test Technician in Rapid City, SD to perform functional and environmental testing on optoelectronic, fiber optic, and electrical assemblies. You will document results, troubleshoot issues to component level, and support fixture setup in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires a technical degree or equivalent experience, 1–3 years in production testing, and strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in a manufacturing or production test environment (1–3 years) preferred.
• Able to read schematics and technical specs; strong troubleshooting ability.

Responsibilities

• Perform functional, performance, and environmental testing on optoelectronic, fiber optic, and electrical assemblies.
• Document test results accurately and follow standardized procedures.
• Identify and troubleshoot failures to component level using test equipment.
• Set up and maintain test fixtures and workstations; ensure clean, safe work area.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to resolve issues and improve quality.
• Provide input on test procedures and participate in continuous improvement.
• Perform basic soldering and rework as needed, and document non-conformances.
