Job summary

VIAVI Solutions in Rapid City, South Dakota is seeking a Final Quality Inspector to evaluate finished bodies at the End of Line in a high-speed production environment. You will determine dispositions and promote a culture of quality to minimize defects.

The role requires 2+ years in production QA, a Bachelor's degree preferred, and proficiency with Excel and basic Python. You’ll partner with cross-functional teams to ensure product throughput and adherence to VIAVI quality standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Interpret database results and sort based on pass/fail status.
• Perform analysis of product results with basic Excel functions.
• Perform physical defect inspection of all units.
• Review customer facing datasheets for unit performance standards.
• Move product to the correct location and track serial numbers.
• Data analysis tasks for calculating metrics and future production capacity projections.
• Guide production teams to properly disposition parts as good for use, needs repair, or scrap.
• Document and communicate any identified defects and escalate concerns as needed.
• Ensure compliance with current production quality standards and communicate trends.
• Build strong relationships with nearby teams and assist in test responsibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

VIAVI Solutions is seeking a Final Quality Inspector in our Rapid City, South Dakota location. The Final Quality Inspector evaluates finished bodies at the End of Line of a production line in a high-speed environment. Technicians determine the disposition of active production parts to ensure VIAVI Solutions standards are being met. Technicians must be prepared to escape concerns to the appropriate party and always promote a culture of quality. The purpose of the Quality Technician is to minimize the number of defective parts that are sent to downstream departments and assist multiple teams in maintaining product throughput.

Job Responsibilities

• Interpret database results and sort based on pass/fail status.
• Perform analysis of product results with basic excel functions
• Perform physical defect inspection of all units.
• Review customer facing datasheets for unit performance standards.
• Moving product to the correct location and tracking S#’s
• data analysis tasks for calculating metrics
• future projections of production test capacity.
• engineering tasks delegated to FQA area.
• Guide production teams to properly disposition parts as good for use, needs repair, or scrap.
• Document and communicate any identified defects
• Escalate concerns that are not being properly resolved in your immediate work area.
• Comprehend current production quality standards and determine if ongoing production meets those standards.
• Communicate emerging and trending quality issues to prevent negative impact to the factory.
• Construct and maintain strong relationships with members of all nearby teams.
• Aide in test responsibilities (loading testers, monitoring testers, performing product testing, etc)

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements

Qualifications

• Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor's degree
• Required Work Experience: 2+ years’ experience in a production or manufacturing quality assurance environment.
• Preferred Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Excel, Python, Database structure an analytics experience is s a plus
• Additional Requirements:
• Excellent organizational and planning skills, process-oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Able to research, problem solve and formulate conclusions and recommendations.
• Proficiency with various computer applications is a definite asset.
• Ability to communicate well with others and know when to log concerns.
