Job summary

Aeva Inc. in Mountain View, CA is seeking an R&D Technician Opto-Mechanical to help prototype, build, and test products throughout the lifecycle.

You will perform optical assemblies, align components, inspect parts, and collaborate with Engineering, QA, and Manufacturing to ensure high-quality results. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in opto-mechanical or fiber optics, experience with optical alignment, and strong documentation skills.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in opto-mechanical / fiber optics related field.
• Experience in optical alignment and assembly using fixtures, hand tools, and microscopes.
• Experience in performing visual inspections with or without a microscope.
• Experience in measurements using calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, thread gauges, and height gauges.
• Ability to document and communicate inspection results in detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and with others.
• Strong communication and computer skills; detail-oriented and organized.

Responsibilities

• Perform optical assemblies involving lenses, fiber, mirrors, lasers, etc.
• Assemble products using procedures, drawings, or internal specs.
• Repair or troubleshoot defective products.
• Assist engineering in building and testing prototypes.
• Collect and analyze data as needed.
• Test product performance and inspect components.
• Document inspection reports and address findings with QA/Design/Manufacturing teams.
• Perform other related activities as assigned.
