Job summary

Shape Optics Technologies currently seeks an Opto-Mechanical Engineer to design, develop, and integrate opto-mechanical systems for diverse applications. You will contribute across disciplines to deliver innovative solutions for customers and participate in prototype testing and validation.

The role emphasizes high-precision mechanical design, optical alignment, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Optics, or related fields.
• At least 1 year of experience in mechanical or opto-mechanical design (automation or optical equipment preferred).
• Strong foundation in high-precision, high-stability mechanical design, including thermal and vibration considerations.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools, preferably SolidWorks.
• Familiarity with optical alignment techniques and optical-mechanical interfaces.
• Hands-on experience with optical assembly and integration is highly advantageous.
• Strong communication skills; proficiency in English and Mandarin preferred for cross-team and supplier coordination.
• Willingness to travel overseas for short assignments (e.g., customer discussions, installations, training).
• Team player with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in documentation.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design, and develop opto-mechanical systems and assemblies.
• Prepare fabrication, assembly, and layout drawings using CAD tools.
• Lead assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of prototypes and pre-production systems.
• Define and prepare technical specifications, ensuring compliance with engineering standards.
• Manage project deliverables including schedules, budgets, and technical issues.
• Collaborate with optics, electronics, laser, software, and production teams for complete system integration.
• Provide technical input for customer proposals to support sales and applications.
• Review and improve design guidelines, workflows, and SOPs.
• Perform other duties as required to support product and business objectives.
