Job summary

FlexStaff is hiring an Opto-Mechanical Product Engineer for our client, an aerospace and industrial manufacturing company located in Deer Park, NY. This is a permanent, full-time role focused on the design, development, manufacturing, and continuous improvement of precision optics products and systems.

The ideal candidate holds a BS and/or MS in Opto-Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in precision mechanical or opto-mechanical design and product development.

Qualifications

• BS and/or MS in Opto-Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years in precision mechanical or opto-mechanical design and product development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD and engineering drawings; SolidWorks experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior staff to learn existing optical systems and designs.
• Document knowledge and grow into technical ownership of products.
• Design and develop mechanical and opto-mechanical assemblies and systems.
• Create prototypes, CAD models, drawings, BOMs, specs, test plans, and docs.
• Support products by troubleshooting, design changes, root-cause analysis, and improvements.
• Collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams.
• Share technical knowledge across sites to support global engineering efforts.
