FlexStaff is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Product Engineer for our aerospace and industrial manufacturing client in Deer Park, NY. This permanent, full-time role focuses on the design, development, manufacturing and continuous improvement of precision optics products and systems.

The ideal candidate holds a BS/MS in Opto-Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years in precision mechanical or opto-mechanical design within a technical manufacturing environment, and demonstrates strong 3D CAD skills and

Qualifications

• BS and/or MS in Opto-Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3+ years of experience in precision mechanical or opto-mechanical design and product development.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and engineering drawings; SolidWorks experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Partner with senior engineering staff to learn existing optical systems and designs.
• Document critical knowledge and grow into technical ownership of assigned products.
• Design and develop mechanical and opto-mechanical assemblies and systems.
• Conduct engineering analysis and create prototypes, CAD models, drawings, BOMs and specs.
• Support existing products by troubleshooting production issues and driving improvements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams.
• Share knowledge and best practices across sites to support global product engineering.

FlexStaff is hiring an Opto-Mechanical Product Engineer for our client, an aerospace and industrial manufacturing company located in Deer Park, NY.

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity for a motivated engineer to join a dynamic team focused on the design, development, manufacturing, and continuous improvement of precision optics products and systems.

The ideal candidate will have a BS and/or MS in Opto-Mechanical Engineering along with 3+ years of experience in precision mechanical or opto-mechanical design and product development within a technical manufacturing environment. Strong proficiency in 3D CAD and engineering drawings is required, and SolidWorks experience is preferred.

What You’ll Do:

• Partner with senior engineering staff to learn existing optical systems, product designs, manufacturing methods, engineering practices, and technical history
• Document critical knowledge and grow into technical ownership of assigned products
• Design and develop mechanical and opto-mechanical assemblies and systems
• Conduct engineering analysis and create prototypes, CAD models, detailed drawings, BOMs, specifications, test requirements, and supporting technical documentation
• Support existing products by troubleshooting production issues, implementing design changes, performing root-cause analysis, and driving manufacturing improvements
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Commercial, and other teams to support business priorities and customer needs
• Share technical knowledge and best practices across sites to support global product engineering efforts
