Job summary

KLA is seeking an Opto-Mechanical Design Engineer to develop precision optical and mechanical subsystems for advanced semiconductor inspection and metrology equipment. The successful candidate will design, analyze, prototype, integrate, and validate high-performance opto-mechanical systems in a multidisciplinary environment.

Ideal applicants have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering and optics, experience with CAD and analysis tools, and the ability to support the full development cycle

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical and optical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience with CAD and engineering analysis tools.
• Ability to support full development cycle from design through testing and integration.
• Expertise in geometric optics, optical alignment, and precision engineering.
• Experience with adhesive bonding, soldering, and cleanroom-compatible assemblies is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision opto-mechanical components, assemblies, and subsystems.
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
• Perform structural, thermal, vibration, CFD and tolerance analyses.
• Support prototype fabrication, assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Partner with optical engineers to align lenses, mirrors, lasers, detectors, and other optical components.
• Maintain optical alignment and micron-level tolerances.
