Duke Energy Corporation is seeking an Optimization Engineer within the Distribution Control Center to advance volt/var management, participate in peak shaving strategies, and support the Load Volt/Var Management module in DMS for regulatory compliance and CVR programs.

The role requires collaborating with ECC, Transmission, Planning, and Capacity Planning teams, and involves developing strategy, governance, and training for operators, grid techs, and engineers in the DCC.

Competenze

• BS in Engineering from ABET-accredited program or Master’s in Engineering in lieu of BS.
• Minimum of two (2) years of engineering experience.

Mansioni

• Implement Conservation Voltage Reduction (CVR) and report energy savings.
• Implement peak shaving voltage reduction (DSDR) and report energy savings.
• Validate smart grid device controller functionality and ensure compatibility with DMS.
• Support DMS upgrades by validating in test and production environments.
• Improve the DMS model by reconciling measurements with power-flow calculations.
• Maintain DMS readiness for peak-shaving operations.
• Identify field conditions impacting voltage reduction capabilities.
• Maintain DMS readiness for EM1/EM2 voltage reduction operations.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, training materials, and system models for voltage reduction programs.
• Identify and address system limitations that affect voltage optimization and emergency voltage reduction capabilities.
