Job summary

Thorlabs in Newton, NJ is seeking a production technician to work in a high-difficulty manufacturing environment. You will prepare materials, operate precision equipment, and help maintain quality across multiple optical product lines.

The role supports training of junior staff and cross-training for flexibility, with occasional duties at other Thorlabs locations. Minimum 7 years of manufacturing experience and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 7 years of manufacturing experience and related technical education.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a team and meet high quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to switch tasks as priorities change.
• Basic math skills and comfort with common computer tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain production equipment in a high-difficulty area.
• Prepare raw materials and assist with processing using blocking methods.
• Set up, load, unload, and run optical manufacturing equipment.
• Measure and inspect parts using metrology tools to ensure quality.
• Train less experienced team members and participate in process improvements.
