Job summary

Xcimer Energy in Denver, CO, is seeking an Optics Manufacturing Engineer to optimize production of optical assemblies and related components. You will translate designs into hardware, author work instructions, and coach technicians on quality and throughput improvements.

Responsibilities include creating DFMA input for design teams, driving process improvements, overseeing assembly, and managing procurement and equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering or work equivalent.
• 8+ years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience in an R&D environment.
• Ability to develop clear manufacturing work instructions for fabrication, assembly, testing, and integration.
• Strong management skills for quality control, build sequences, and schedules.
• Proficient in GD&T and engineering drawing reviews.
• Proficient with CAD (Siemens NX) and MS Office; adaptable to learning new tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work on the manufacturing floor.

Responsibilities

• Provide DFM/A input to the product design team to simplify processes and tooling.
• Translate drawings and configurations into fully functional hardware for test and use.
• Create and modify work instructions and routings for technicians and material planning.
• Drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes to improve quality and reduce cost.
• Provide oversight and hands-on assistance during assembly.
• Define and support repair and rework procedures and disposition NCRs.
• Handle procurement activities for hardware, tools, and facility equipment.
• Maintain ongoing operation of equipment and systems.
• Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree through build and test.
• Validate assembly safety procedures with engineers and safety personnel.
• Coach and mentor junior manufacturing engineers and technicians.
