Job summary

MKS Instruments is hiring an Optical Coater in Irvine, CA. You will partner with engineering and cleaning teams to perform coating operations on parts and materials, documenting results and reporting to the Optics Coating Supervisor.

Responsibilities include performing coating, coordinating material disposition, following procedures, and conducting inspection measurements as required. Prior experience with optics and coating systems is valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1+ years related experience in optics manufacturing or coating.
• Experience using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, microscope, height gauges, UV/VIS, Ellipsometer.
• Experience performing per-coat/post-coat inspection, cleaning, handling, and packaging optics.
• Knowledge of coating and vacuum systems and thin film deposition tools.

Job description

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As an Optical Coater at MKS, you will partner with the engineering and cleaning team to perform coating operations on parts, materials, and components, while documenting results. In this role, you will report to the Optics Coating Supervisor.

You Will Make an Impact By:

• Performing coating operations of incoming parts, materials, components, and document results.
• Coordinating the collection and disposition of coated material.
• Determining or assisting in determining methods, sequences, and procedures necessary for coating/inspection.
• Working from written procedures, drawings, sketches, and specifications.
• Performing inspection/spectroscopy measurements where necessary.

Skills You Bring:

• Completion of high school diploma, vocational training, or equivalent is preferred
• One or more years of related experience.
• Experience using inspection tools and devices such as calipers, micrometers, microscope, height gauges, UV/VIS, Ellipsometer, Scratch dig standards, etc.
• Experience performing per-coat/post coat inspection, cleaning, handling, and packaging optics
• Knowledge of coating and vacuum systems, thin film deposition tools

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time
• Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 35 lbs.
• Regularly requires manual dexterity and coordination of objects below, at, and above shoulder level.

Compensation and Benefits:

Hourly Pay Range: $22.50 - 37.50 USD Hourly. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Bonus:

This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
