Job summary

MKS Instruments, Inc. in Irvine, CA is seeking an Optical Coater to perform coating operations on parts, materials, and components and to document results.

You will report to the Optics Coating Supervisor and work with engineering and cleaning teams. The role requires 1+ years of related experience and knowledge of coating/vacuum systems and thin‑film deposition tools, with hands-on use of inspection devices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, vocational training, or equivalent (preferred).
• One or more years of related experience.
• Experience using inspection tools and devices such as calipers, micrometers, microscope, height gauges, UV/VIS, ellipsometer, scratch‑dig standards, etc.
• Experience performing per‑coat/post‑coat inspection, cleaning, handling, and packaging optics.
• Knowledge of coating and vacuum systems and thin‑film deposition tools.

Job Overview

• Coordinate the collection and disposition of coated material.
• Determine or assist in determining methods, sequences, and procedures for coating and inspection.
• Work from written procedures, drawings, sketches, and specifications.
• Perform inspection and spectroscopy measurements as necessary.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods. Occasionally move or position objects up to 35 lbs. Regularly requires manual dexterity and coordination of objects below, at, and above shoulder level.

Compensation and Benefits

• Hourly Pay Range: $22.50 - $37.50 USD.
