The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) seeks an experienced Health Tech (Opticians) to support operations in VCS Optical Shops at the Palo Alto VA Medical Center. You will help coordinate optical operations and serve as a liaison between eye clinic providers and prosthetics teams to enhance the Veterans experience.

Responsibilities include customer service, eyewear fittings, measurements with digital pupilometers and lensometers, processing orders, and collaborating with clinics, labs, and vendors

Formación

• Minimum of one year of experience working as an Optician.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining high patient service standards.
• Identify and correct prescription discrepancies for accuracy.
• Skilled in optical verification and quality assurance tasks.
• Proficient with optical equipment and tools listed in the job description.

Responsabilidades

• Greet customers and assist with frame selection, pricing, options and timelines.
• Maintain a professional, welcoming environment to support informed eyewear decisions.
• Perform eyewear fittings and measurements using digital pupilometers and lensometers.
• Document patient information in the CPRS system.
• Process eyewear orders, collect payments and enter orders in VA systems.
• Promote lens options and upgrades using a consultative approach.
• Coordinate with eye clinics, labs, prosthetics staff and vendors to track orders and resolve issues.
• Address customer concerns professionally and escalate complex issues when needed.
• Maintain eyewear displays and manage inventory and fixed assets.
