Job summary

The Veterans Canteen Service (VCS) seeks experienced Health Tech (Opticians) to support Optical Shops at the Washington DC VA Medical Center. This role coordinates optical operations and serves as a liaison between VCS, eye clinic providers and prosthetics teams to enhance veteran care.

Minimum of one year as an Optician is required, with the ability to work independently and interpret prescriptions accurately.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience as an Optician.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining patient service standards.
• Proficiency in interpreting prescriptions and resolving discrepancies.
• Experience with optical verification and quality assurance processes.
• Proficient use of optical equipment and tools listed above.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate optical operations within VCS Optical Shops at the VA Medical Center.
• Act as liaison between VCS, eye clinic providers and prosthetics teams.
• Ensure high-quality patient service and accurate optical work.
• Interpret prescriptions and resolve discrepancies to ensure accuracy.
• Perform optical verification, quality checks, and equipment maintenance.
