Working with the Optometrist and patient care team, the Optician guides patients from prescription to finished eyewear, including frame and lens selection, order management, dispensing, repairs, and troubleshooting.
Modern Eyes is not a high-pressure sales environment. We focus on education, trust, accuracy, and personalized recommendations. We are looking for a Massachusetts-licensed optician with a strong technical foundation, warm communication skills, attention to detail, and pride in their work. This role is well suited to an early-career optician who wants to take on greater responsibility over time.
This is a full-time, 40-hour/week position with a Tuesday–Saturday schedule. No Sundays, late evenings, or major holiday work.
Someone compassionate, energetic, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and comfortable discussing eyewear, insurance, and fees will thrive. If you enjoy helping patients find frames and lenses they truly love, solving problems, and being part of a collaborative team, you'll truly shine.
As you grow in the role, you’ll have opportunities to deepen your technical skills and participate in complex troubleshooting, frame selection, vendor relationships, inventory planning, and optical workflow improvements.
With or without reasonable accommodation, this role involves using optical equipment and computer systems; performing close visual tasks and measurements; using fine motor skills for adjustments and repairs; moving throughout the office; occasionally lifting up to 25 pounds; and remaining attentive and professional.
Modern Eyes is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and make employment decisions based on qualifications, merit, and business needs. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities.
