Job summary

Belchertown Eye Care and Sunglass Shop is seeking a licensed Optician to deliver exceptional patient experiences and expert eyewear fitting in a patient-centered practice in Belchertown, MA.

You will educate patients on lens designs, assist with frame choices, and ensure accurate measurements. The role requires NCLE certification, strong communication, and team collaboration to support ongoing patient care and growth.

Qualifications

  • Massachusetts Licensed Optician in good standing.
  • NCLE certification and ability to fit contact lenses, evaluate fit and train insertion/removal.
  • Professional and dependable with patient-first mindset.

  • Strong team player willing to help wherever needed, including answering phones and screenings.
  • Knowledgeable about ophthalmic lenses, frame fitting, measurements, prism, prescription analysis, adjustments, troubleshooting.

  • Capable of fabricating lenses and performing lab work accurately (drilled rimless).
  • Highly attentive to detail.

  • Educate patients about lens designs, materials, coatings and options.
  • Assist patients in frame selection considering fit, prescription, lifestyle and personal style.
  • Ensure eyewear is properly fitted and measurements are accurate.
  • Check completed eyewear for accuracy, quality and fit before dispensing.
  • Develop genuine relationships with patients to foster trust and retention.
  • Collaborate with our optometrist and staff.

Job Requirements
  • A Massachusetts Licensed Optician in good standing.
  • NCLE Certified: You must be able to fit contact lenses, evaluate their fit on a slit lamp, train for insertion and removal.
