Job summary

Eyes on Dover is seeking a friendly, knowledgeable Optician to help patients see and look their best while delivering an outstanding patient experience. We welcome experienced optical professionals eager to grow with our woman-owned practice in Westlake, Ohio.

Licensure is not required, but a license or ABO certification is a plus. This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit team in a growing independent practice that values compassion, collaboration, and personalized care.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an optician or in an optometry or ophthalmology practice is required.
  • State optical license is highly recommended, ABO certification is a plus.
  • Strong sales skills with the ability to confidently recommend eyewear and lens options that meet patients' needs.
  • Knowledge of vision insurance plans and optical dispensing procedures is preferred.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to multitask, adapt to changing priorities, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to contribute to a growing practice.
  • Positive attitude and genuine passion for creating meaningful relationships with patients and coworkers.
  • Part-time or full-time applicants welcome, including availability to work some Saturdays.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients in selecting frames and lenses that best fit their vision needs, lifestyle, and personal style.
  • Educate patients on lens materials, coatings, and premium optical products.
  • Take accurate optical measurements and ensure proper frame fitting and adjustments.
  • Verify prescriptions and oversee accurate eyewear ordering and dispensing.
  • Perform eyeglass adjustments, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinate with optical laboratories to track and manage orders.
  • Provide exceptional customer service from check-in through eyewear delivery.
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, assist with insurance verification, and support front office operations as needed.
  • Contribute to daily office operations with a flexible, team-first attitude as our practice continues to grow.
