Job summary

Thurmond Eye Associates in McAllen, TX is seeking an Optician to provide high-quality optical services to patients, manage frame and contact lens inventory, and maintain equipment and supplies. This role reports to the Optical Manager and includes coordinating promotions with the manager.

Qualifications include a High School or equivalent and a minimum of two years of experience. Proficiency in English and Spanish, and computer/electronics aptitude are required.

Responsibilities

• Provides the highest quality optical services to all patients/customers.
• Fill all customers' orders accurately and promptly and follow up on all orders not received in a timely manner.
• Maintain an accurate accounting of all patients'/customer's purchases, deposits and payments.
• Maintain the appearance of the Optical department to ensure the comfort and safety of the patient/customer.
• Recommend necessary purchases.
• Update forms and printed materials as necessary.
• Maintain inventory levels.
• Maintain equipment.
• Ability to make decisions that affect other people and/or the image and reputation of the practice.
• Requires being exact or highly accurate.
• Meeting strict deadlines.
• Adhere to company policies and protocol.
• Any other duties that may be required

Description

Compensation: $12.00 minimum

Hours: Typically 8 am-5 pm but can start as early as 7:30 and leave as late as 6:30 pm

Reports To: Optical Manager

Job Responsibilities

1. The Optician is responsible for all optical services, inventory of frames and contact lenses, and maintaining optical equipment and supplies.
2. Coordinates all special promotions and sales with the Optical Manager.

Education and Experience

1. High School or Equivalent
2. Minimum of 2 years Experience

Knowledge

1. Customer Service

3. Computers and Electronics

Physical Requirements:

1. Standing for long periods of time
2. Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
