Job summary

Midwest Vision Partners, LLC is seeking an Optician to join our team. In this role you will sell, fit and dispense eyewear, helping customers see their best while staying current with eyewear fashion trends.

You will evaluate prescriptions, recommend lenses and frames, measure PD and other coordinates, and guide customers in selecting eyewear. The position involves light travel to New Lenox as needed, with a schedule including some Saturdays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in customer service.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• ABO/NCLE certification or equivalent is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Sell, fit and dispense eyewear to patients.
• Evaluate prescriptions and visual requirements.
• Recommend lenses, coatings and frames to suit client needs.
• Measure bridge, eye size, temple length, vertex distance, PD, and optical centers.
• Sell contact lenses, spectacles, sunglasses and related eyewear.
• Assist customers in choosing frames to suit style and facial features.
• Heat and shape frames for proper fit.
• Instruct customers on inserting, removing, and caring for contacts.
• Determine customer prescriptions using lensometer or analyzers when needed.
• Order and purchase frames and lenses.

Job description

We are looking for an Optician to join our team. As an Optician you will sell, fit and dispense eyewear to patients. Our Opticians help customers look and see their best working with the latest Eyewear Fashion Trends!

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday 8-4 Thursday 10-7, one Saturday a month. must be able to travel New Lenox location as needed.

What you will be doing

• Remain current with eyewear trends.
• Evaluate customer's prescriptions and visual requirements.
• Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit client needs.
• Measure clients bridge and eye size, temple length, vertex distance, pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes, using measuring devices.
• Selling goods such as contact lenses, spectacles, sunglasses, and other goods related to eyes in general.
• Assist customers in selecting frames according to style and color and ensure that frames are coordinated with facial and eye measurements and optical prescriptions.
• Heat and shape plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit clients
• Show customers how to insert, remove, and care for their contact lenses.
• Determine customer's current lens prescriptions, when necessary, using lensometer or lens analyzers and customer's eyeglasses.
• Order and purchase frames and lenses.

What you know

Required

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Experience working in customer service
• Excellent verbal communication skills

Desired

• 2 years recent retail office experience (Optical Retail preferred)
• ABO/NCLE Certified
• Graduate of Optical Studies Program
• Familiarity with Ophthalmology and Optometry practice
