Job description

Puget Sound Eye Care is seeking a full-time Optician to join our team. Our practice has two locations in Bellevue and Seattle, both easily accessible by car and public transportation. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working in either office, but this position will primarily be based in our Bellevue location.

As an Optician, you will play a key role in helping patients select eyewear that fits their prescription, lifestyle, and personal style while delivering a high level of care, service, and support.

We are a well-established optometry practice with 48 years of service to the community. Our fast-paced office provides a dynamic work environment with a diverse patient base, including a heavy pediatric focus with patients as young as two years old. We also offer specialty care, including scleral lenses, ortho-k lenses, and other specialty contact lens management, giving team members exposure to a broad scope of practice in the optical field.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys staying busy, working with patients, learning new skills, and being part of a friendly, hardworking team.

What We Offer
  • Competitive pay of $24–$28 per hour, based on education and experience.

  • Health insurance benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and HSA options.

  • 401(k) with company match.

  • Paid time off, including vacation and sick time.

  • Paid holidays.

  • On-the-job training and continuing education opportunities.

  • A supportive, fast-paced work environment with exposure to pediatric care and specialty lens services.

  • Full-time schedule: 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday with rotating Saturdays.

What You Will Do
  • Assist patients in selecting frames, lenses, and lens treatments based on their prescription, lifestyle, and visual needs.

  • Accurately interpret and fill eyeglass prescriptions.

  • Perform optical measurements, including pupillary distance, segment height, and frame adjustments.

  • Educate patients on lens options, coatings, and premium eyewear products.

  • Dispense, adjust, repair, and troubleshoot eyewear.

  • Verify and quality-check completed eyewear orders.

  • Process eyewear orders and communicate with optical laboratories.

  • Assist with insurance verification, benefit discussions, and claim coordination.

  • Support contact lens training and specialty lens care as needed.

  • Maintain accurate patient and order records.

  • Assist with inventory management, merchandising, and frame displays.

  • Provide excellent customer service and build strong, long-term patient relationships.

What We Are Looking For
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Prior optician/optical experience preferred.

  • Experience in an optical, medical, or customer service setting is a plus.

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.

  • Personable, reliable, detail-oriented, and willing to learn.

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced office with patients of all ages, including children.

  • Strong sales skills and the ability to help patients understand eyewear options.

  • A team player who enjoys working with others and helping patients feel cared for.
