Job summary

Midco is seeking a Network Technician - Transport in Sioux Falls to support the operation, maintenance, and expansion of the transport network. You will help implement and restore transport infrastructure while coordinating with internal teams to meet customer needs.

The role has progression across three levels, reflecting increased knowledge, problem-solving, ownership, and contribution to strategic initiatives within Midco's transport network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of experience supporting telecommunications, transport, network, fiber, or related technology infrastructure.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; DUI within past 5 years disqualifies.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, routing, switching, Ethernet, and optical transport technologies.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, network diagrams, and engineering specifications.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, maintain, and support Midco's transport network infrastructure.
• Perform service provisioning, circuit testing, validation, and turn-up activities.
• Troubleshoot outages, impairments, and service degradations; coordinate with teams and vendors.
• Install equipment, rack integration, power and cabling; ensure compliance with standards.
• Monitor network health and assist with preventative maintenance.
• Support expansion, modernization, and end-of-life projects.
• Collaborate with Engineering, NOC, Customer Fulfillment, Sales Engineering, and others.
• Maintain accurate network records, diagrams, inventory, configurations, testing results.
• Assist with disaster recovery planning, backups, and business continuity.
• Provide on-call support outside regular hours as needed.
