Job summary

Cisco Systems seeks a seasoned hardware test engineer in San Jose, CA to lead test strategy and equipment validation for optical transceiver modules. You will develop automation scripts, analyze complex hardware–software interactions, and work with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, with 5+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with electrical/optical test and measurement equipment such as attenuators, switches, I2C analyzers, DMMs, traffic generators or oscilloscopes
• Automation experience in Unix/Linux and Python
• Experience with digital logic, EEPROM, and I2C interfaces

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement test and configuration strategies for new optical module transceiver products
• Investigate complex issues using root cause analysis for hardware–software interactions
• Build and maintain automation tools and scripts (Python, LabVIEW) to speed data analysis
• Conduct lab operations with electrical/optical test equipment
• Characterize module IO timing and EEPROM/I2C interfaces
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure quality designs
• Author clear test reports and present data to stakeholders
