Job summary

SureFire is seeking an Optical Test Engineer to lead measurement and test setup on a production floor. You will bridge hands-on metrology with software-based test tooling, ensuring test coverage, reliability, and fixture feedback to cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Metrology, test lab experience and measurement expertise.
• Experience with measurement equipment (CMM, optical systems, gauges).
• Understanding of GD&T and dimensional tolerances.
• Experience with test automation (Python, data acquisition).
• Experience in the optomechanical industry is highly preferred.
• Exposure to SPC or process improvement tools is helpful.
• Basic understanding of embedded systems/test concepts is beneficial.
• Ability to manage procurement/inventory tracking alongside technical duties.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to write technical evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Perform dimensional inspections using CMM, optical systems, and gauges.
• Set up and execute electrical/electronic tests with instrumentation.
• Develop automated test scripts (Python) to improve coverage and repeatability.
• Provide input on fixtures, gauges, and test setups; suggest improvements.
• Drive continuous improvement of test methods and cycle times.
• Document results and communicate findings to engineering.
• Create and maintain test plans, cases, and defect documentation.
• Support equipment qualification and method validation.
