Job summary

Broadstaff is seeking Traveling Telecom Transport Installation Technicians for nationwide deployment projects supporting carrier, enterprise, and data center networks. Level 3 requires 2+ years of installation experience; Level 4 requires 5+ years and leadership of installation crews. Experience with DWDM, Ciena, and Infinera is desired.

Per diem is available on nationwide travel projects. This is a full-time contract with travel to customer sites across the country, including COs, data centers,

Qualifications

• 2+ years telecom installation experience (Level 3).
• 5+ years telecom transport installation experience (Level 4).
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to travel nationwide up to 100%.
• Able to pass background and drug screenings.

Responsibilities

• Install, remove, and modify telecom transport equipment.
• Rack and stack network hardware.
• Install and route fiber and copper cabling.
• Perform fiber testing and troubleshooting.
• Conduct equipment commissioning and turn‑up activities.
• Execute circuit migrations and network modifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation.
• Work in Central Offices, data centers, transport huts, and colocation facilities.
• Complete project documentation, MOPs, and quality reports.
• Support customer acceptance and project closeout.

Job description

Traveling Telecom Transport Installation Technician (Level 3 & Level 4) Broadstaff is seeking experienced Telecom Transport Installation Technicians for nationwide deployment projects supporting carrier, enterprise, and data center network infrastructure. If you have experience with DWDM, Ciena, Infinera, fiber optics, central office installations, transport networks, commissioning, and turn‑up activities, we want to hear from you.

Pay

Level 3: Up to $32.50/hr
Level 4: $35 - $38/hr

Per Diem Available Nationwide Travel Projects

We offer per diem for technicians working on nationwide travel projects.

Responsibilities

• Install, remove, and modify telecom transport equipment
• Rack and stack network hardware
• Install and route fiber and copper cabling
• Perform fiber testing and troubleshooting
• Conduct equipment commissioning and turn‑up activities
• Execute circuit migrations and network modifications
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and documentation
• Work within Central Offices (COs), data centers, transport huts, and colocation facilities
• Complete project documentation, MOPs, and quality reports

Required Experience

Level 3 Technicians

• 2+ years of telecom installation experience
• Experience working in Central Offices, data centers, or carrier environments
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and installation documentation
• Experience with fiber optic installations and testing

Level 4 Technicians

• 5+ years of telecom transport installation experience
• Experience leading installation projects and crews
• Experience working on active network equipment and live circuits
• Transport equipment turn‑up and commissioning experience
• Experience with power transition and network migration activities preferred

Preferred Technical Skills

• Transport & Optical Networks
• DWDM OTN SONET Ethernet Transport Equipment
• Experience with Ciena 6500, Ciena Waveserver, Ciena RLS
• Experience with Infinera 7100 Series, Infinera G32/G34/G42
• Adtran Cisco Transport Platforms
• Testing Equipment: OTDR, BER Test Sets, Fiber Scopes, Visual Fault Locator (VFL), Volt/Ohm Meter
• Power Systems –48V DC Power, BDFBs, Power Bay Installations, Battery Systems
• AC/DC Power Fundamentals

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license
• Ability to travel nationwide up to 100%
• Ability to travel for 3+ weeks at a time
• Ability to pass background and drug screenings
• Comfortable working in Central Offices, data centers, huts, and customer facilities
• Ability to climb ladders and work in tight spaces
• Strong communication and customer service skills

Ideal Candidate

You have experience supporting carriers such as AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, Lumen, Zayo, Crown Castle, and Enterprise Network customers. You understand transport networks, fiber optics, installation standards, testing, and commissioning activities and can work independently with minimal supervision.
