Job description

We’re looking for a motivated Field Engineer to help deploy advanced packet-optical transport networks for major U.S. operators. This role is dynamic, travel-intensive (50-75%), and hands-on — involving installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and fiber-optic testing.

You’ll work on network deployments, migrations, and Fiber Optic Characterization (FOC), while collaborating with project teams to ensure smooth integration of cutting-edge solutions. When not traveling, you’ll join the team at our Richardson facility to support ongoing projects.

Travel

• Expect 50-75% travel across the U.S., with occasional international assignments
• Trips may last 1-3 weeks, covering metropolitan regions or long-haul deployments

Essential Functions

Collaborate with internal and external project teams to:

• Provide technical and logistical solutions in the field
• Identify and mitigate potential risks proactively
• Execute projects per the Statement of Work, adapting as needed
• Perform network deployment functions in both factory and field settings
• Configuration, integration, migration, and testing of complex packet-optical networks
• Deliver remote technical support and training for junior engineers and customers
• Stay current with new optical networking technologies
• Lead network deployments, organize and plan for success
• Demonstrate advanced proficiency in:
• Site surveys & technical documentation
• Fiber Optic Characterization (FOC)
• Equipment installation and integration across multiple vendor platforms (Ciena 6500/RSP, Nokia 1830/IPD, Infinera XTM/GX, etc.)
• Network testing, troubleshooting, and turn-up for long-haul, metro, and regional architectures
