We are seeking an experienced Level 3 Installer / Field Engineer to support telecommunications and critical infrastructure installations in data centers, switching offices, central offices, headends, and other customer facilities.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with telecom equipment, -48 VDC power, fiber/copper cabling, equipment replacements, and live network cutovers.
Responsibilities
- Install, commission, test, troubleshoot, maintain, and replace telecom and network equipment.
- Install and troubleshoot fiber, copper, coax, and structured cabling.
- Work with -48 VDC power systems, fuse panels, breakers, grounding, and equipment feeds.
- Install and replace routers, switches, servers, transport equipment, shelves, cards, modules, and power supplies.
- Perform in-service equipment swaps, migrations, and cutovers while protecting live services.
- Follow MOPs, pre/post-checks, rollback procedures, and change-control requirements.
- Read engineering drawings, rack elevations, schematics, and installation documentation.
- Perform fiber and electrical testing using OTDRs, optical power meters, multimeters, and related equipment.
- Troubleshoot power, cabling, hardware, alarms, and connectivity issues.
- Coordinate with engineering teams, network operations, vendors, contractors, and customers.
- Maintain accurate installation records, test results, and closeout documentation.
- Follow all OSHA, electrical, ESD, fall protection, and site safety requirements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of telecommunications installation, field engineering, network infrastructure, or related experience.
- Level 3 experience with complex installations, troubleshooting, cutovers, and equipment replacements.
- Hands-on experience with -48 VDC telecom power systems.
- Experience in central offices, switching facilities, data centers, or other mission-critical environments.
- Experience performing equipment swaps on live networks.
- Strong knowledge of fiber/copper cabling, grounding, bonding, and rack-and-stack practices.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
Preferred
- BICSI, fiber, networking, or related certifications.
- Experience leading installation crews or serving as a field technical lead.
- OSHA, First Aid/CPR, forklift, or aerial lift certifications.
This role may require travel, maintenance windows, occasional nights/weekends, and emergency response. Candidates must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in racks, raised-floor environments, ladders, and confined areas.
