Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Business Development Director for Optical Systems, based in Chantilly, VA. You will lead customer engagement, market analysis, and bid responses, working with engineering and program teams to win national security space business.

Required TS/SCI clearance, 12+ years in aerospace BD or related fields, and ability to travel up to 50%. The role includes proposing, budgeting, and shaping product roadmaps while managing cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline required.
• 12+ years in business development, program management, or systems engineering within aerospace.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Experience with SCI and SAP/SAR programs.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Provide timely responses to customer inquiries regarding Rocket Lab Optical Systems and Mynaric products.
• Draft proposals and compliance matrices to customer requirements.
• Develop and manage relationships with customers and partners to drive new business.
• Use internal tools (Salesforce) to track leads, opportunities, and proposals and generate KPIs.
• Monitor sales performance and forecast demand product-by-product.
• Collaborate with Engineering to address technical gaps and maintain documentation.
• Support quotes, export license applications, and follow up on items.
• Coordinate with Communications on campaigns and collateral.
• Stay current on satellite market trends to inform pricing and roadmaps.
• Lead bid/proposal writing for BAAs, RFIs, and RFPs.
