Job summary

Excelitas Technologies in Boulder, CO is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and model tooling and equipment for optical fabrication and coating processes.

You will collaborate with internal customers to clarify mechanical requirements and manage multiple projects, while conducting analyses to validate designs and support manufacturability. Proficiency in Solidworks and experience with PDM are required or desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field.
• Proficiency with CAD software (Solidworks).
• Build complicated assembly models and create detailed drawings/specifications for manufacturing.
• Experience with Product Documentation Management (PDM).
• Experience with DFMEA desirable.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Designs and models tooling to support optical fabrication and coating processes.
• Works with internal customers to understand mechanical requirements.
• Manages own time on multiple, parallel projects as a self-starter.
• Coordinates analyses to validate product designs and processes.
• Supports NPI Technical Lead to ensure manufacturability of new designs.
• Leads or supports design reviews and discipline-specific peer reviews.
