Job summary

Excelitas Technologies in Boulder, CO is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist to perform precision milling and turning operations on medium to difficult parts. You will set up, program, and operate CNC machines, select tooling, and ensure conformance to specifications.

Proficiency with SurfCam and G-code/M-code, strong measurement skills, and meticulous attention to detail are essential. This role requires ITAR awareness and ability to work with tight tolerances in a fast-paced manufacturing

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 3+ years CNC machining experience or trade school training preferred.
• Experience in setup, operation, and troubleshooting of CNC milling, turning, or multi-axis machines.
• Experience with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges).
• Proficiency in CNC machine programming and operation (G-code, M-code).
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Works on parts that are medium to difficult to machine.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Production and Processing - knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing efficient manufacture.
• Select the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in the preparation of machinery work.
• Modify existing programs or write new programs and test them for accuracy.
• Proficient in SurfCam programming software and modeling.
• Proficient with CNC G-code programming.
• Proficient with Macro variable programming.
• Experience with manual machine shop equipment (Mill, Lathe, etc.).
• Set up, adjust, and operate all basic machine tools to perform precision machining operations.
• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.
• Measure, inspect, and test completed units/parts to detect defects.
• Follows all PPE and safety requirements.
