The Lab Manager oversees the operation of the lab, ensuring quality and same-day service standards are met. This position also supervises Lab Technicians.

Job Description

What Would You Do? The Specifics?

1. Optimize and oversee the lab to ensure efficiency and compliance with company policies and operational guidelines.
2. Identify areas for improvement and create action plans. Provide world-class service by respecting customers, offering prompt and courteous service, and understanding their needs.
3. Execute same-day service using the “Ready When Promised” production board.
4. Perform machine maintenance to keep lab equipment clean and in good working order. Address equipment malfunctions immediately and inform the General Manager and retail staff of any delays.
5. Ensure all safety rules are followed, including mandatory use of protective eyewear by lab technicians.
6. Control inventory shrinkage by monitoring and recording breakage and maintaining proper stock levels of lenses and lab supplies for prompt customer service.
7. Supervise and motivate Lab Technicians, ensuring the timely completion of daily tasks.
8. Assist the General Manager with recruiting, selecting, and retaining qualified lab staff.
9. Delegate work appropriately to maximize organizational goals and support individual development.
10. Schedule lab associates in compliance with payroll guidelines, considering skill levels.
11. Ensure all lab associates are trained on equipment and continue their professional development. Collaborate with the Training Department to ensure timely training and development.
12. Conduct annual performance reviews and ongoing coaching for all associates.
