Job summary

Prysmian Group is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to support the manufacturing of optical fiber in our North Carolina facilities. The role involves developing PLC programs and providing controls expertise for production and maintenance activities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Schneider, or Siemens PLCs, along with excellent problem-solving and communication skills to contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.
Experience programming PLCs from major vendors (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Schneider, Siemens).
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and contribute to continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain PLC programs for production equipment controlling manufacturing processes.
Provide controls and automation support for optical fiber production.
Collaborate with technical staff to resolve daily production issues related to equipment or control software.
Support commissioning of new production equipment.
Ensure backups of programs and critical files per plant standards.
Adhere to safety procedures and ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 guidelines.
Other duties as assigned.
