Job summary

Applied Optoelectronics, Inc. in Sugar Land, Texas, is seeking a Product & Component Failure Analysis Engineer to investigate mechanical, physical, chemical, and stress factors leading to product failures and to perform root-cause analysis with corrective actions.

You will review AOC-related issues, prepare 8D reports, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to improve reliability, yield, and customer satisfaction on optical transceiver hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; Materials/Physics/Electrical acceptable.
• 1+ year in failure analyses of semiconductor laser dies, etc.
• Familiar with analytical techniques like SEM/EDS/XRD/TEM.
• Experience debugging and failure analysis of prototypes/products.
• Strong understanding of optical communications principles.

Responsibilities

• Investigate failure modes of Active Optical Cables (AOCs) and identify root causes.
• Prepare and review TL 9000 related measurement data and reports.
• Review customer issues and RMAs; maintain databases and records.
• Identify defects and quality control issues in assemblies and connectors.
• Draft 8D reports detailing causes and corrective actions.
• Support quality improvements and correlate product performance with failures.
• Communicate analysis results and propose corrective actions to teams.
