Job summary

AOI, based in Sugar Land, TX, seeks a Reliability Test Engineer for product and component testing of optical transceivers. You will implement rigorous reliability tests, analyze failures, and drive improvements through root-cause analysis and GR-468 compliant reporting.

You will assess environmental stresses, aging components, and manufacturing defects, collaborating across teams to ensure robust performance and quality across products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
• Minimum of one year of semiconductor laser dies, semiconductor process monitoring, and photonic integration circuit quality control preferred.
• Exposure to SEM, EDS, XRD, FIB, TEM and related analytical techniques.
• Experience in debugging and failure analysis of prototypes and products.
• Strong understanding of optical communication principles and standards.
• Knowledge of GR-468 Generic Reliability Assurance Requirements.
• Excellent presentation and reporting skills; organized and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Work on optical transceivers’ qualification and reliability test and identify failure modes.
• Analyze environmental factors and their impact on transceiver failure.
• Identify manufacturing defects, quality control issues, and soldering/misalignment problems.
• Detect aging components (Tx/Rx) from degradation.
• Seek root causes to diagnose and prevent failures.
• Complete product qualification and reliability reports to GR-468.
• Analyze failure mechanisms using analytical technologies and tools.
• Quality improvement through debugging and procedures related to production and field returns.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and report results.
