Job summary

Fusion Optix in Woburn, MA is seeking a bright optical engineer to join our hands-on team. You will develop lenses, optics assemblies for LED-based systems and work directly with customers across the 3LED Group.

You'll test, model, and document performance, collaborate with engineering, sales and product teams, and help turn ideas into practical products for architectural lighting, machine vision, horticulture and more.

Qualifications

• A degree in optical engineering, physics, photonics, electrical engineering or a related field.
• Hands-on experience with optics, LEDs, illumination and practical product development preferred.
• Experience with optical design software (LightTools, Zemax, TracePro) and measurement tools is valuable.

Responsibilities

• Develop optical products: design and improve lenses, TIR optics, diffusers, light guides and optical assemblies for LED-based systems.
• Understand application requirements, recommend solutions and support customers from concept through evaluation and implementation.
• Collaborate with engineering, sales and product teams across Fusion Optix and the 3LED Group to bring designs to market.
• Build prototypes, run experiments, and measure beam distribution, efficiency and spectral characteristics.
• Use optical modeling and lab measurements to guide design improvements and validate performance.
• Prepare documentation, test reports and technical notes for customers and internal use.
• Explore new opportunities for optics, LED engines and lighting applications.
