Job summary

Optikos in Wakefield, MA is seeking a Systems Engineer to lead the development, integration, testing, and validation of complex optical and opto-mechanical systems. You will work closely with Optical, Mechanical, Electrical, Software, Manufacturing, and Program Management teams to translate customer and product requirements into solid technical solutions.

The role emphasizes system architecture, rigorous testing, and cross-functional collaboration within an established optical engineering group.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (Systems/Optical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related).
• 3+ years of systems engineering, product development, or related experience.
• Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Ability to translate requirements into practical engineering solutions.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage system-level requirements, specifications, and documentation.
• Translate customer and product requirements into system architecture and engineering requirements.
• Lead system integration, verification, validation, and testing.
• Coordinate activities across optical, mechanical, electrical, software, and manufacturing disciplines.
• Analyze system performance and identify root causes of issues.
• Develop test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria.
• Support prototype development, integration, troubleshooting, and qualification.
• Participate in design reviews and provide system-level recommendations.
• Evaluate tradeoffs among performance, cost, schedule, manufacturability, and reliability.
• Support risk identification and mitigation throughout development.
