Job summary

Inlighten Technologies, a Silicon Valley startup, seeks an Optical Engineer to drive optical simulation and modeling for microLED displays used in AR and smart glasses. You will develop advanced models and analyze light-extraction to optimize device performance.

You will work with Zemax, Lumerical, and Python/MATLAB to create simulations, perform parameter sweeps, and communicate results to teams. Strong optics background required.

Qualifications

• MS in Optics, Physics, EE, or related field with 3+ years of experience.
• Experience building optical models using geometric and wave-optics principles.
• Hands-on with optical simulation tools: TMM, RCWA, FDTD (Lumerical), and Zemax/OpticStudio.
• Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for simulations and data analysis.
• Strong foundation in optics, semiconductor and optoelectronic device physics.
• Deep understanding of micro-optics, microLED architectures, and light-extraction efficiency.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop optical simulation models for microLED displays using geometric and wave optics.
• Apply TMM, FDTD, and RCWA to multilayer stacks and display configurations.
• Analyze emission patterns, angular distribution, polarization, and spectra.
• Model MQW behavior, carrier dynamics, and light-extraction mechanisms.
• Evaluate photometric and colorimetric outputs (luminance, chromaticity, color gamut).
• Model electrical transport and thermal behavior of microLED devices.
• Develop automated Python/MATLAB pipelines for rapid parameter sweeps and visualization.
• Identify novel device structures and architectures for IP generation.
• Document findings with technical reports and presentations.
