Visionworks seeks an Optical Assistant/Apprentice Optician to assist customers with frame and lens selection, interpret prescriptions and provide informed guidance on insurance benefits. You will sell and dispense frames, maintain a clean dispensing area, and collaborate with labs and the optometrist to ensure accurate prescriptions.

The role requires a high school diploma and an active Apprentice permit in NY or MA; on-the-job training will support licensure within state requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Apprentice permit to practice in NY or MA.

Responsabilités

• Assist customers in frame and lens selection.
• Provide accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections and services.
• Explain benefits and charges not covered by Third Party insurance for proper frame and lens selection.
• Sell, fit and dispense frames and accessories.
• Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
• Ensure accuracy of patient pricing.
• Coordinate with lab and optometrist to ensure prescription accuracy.
• Work toward licensing as an Optician within state requirements.
• Comply with HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
• Participate in training to meet departmental goals and maintain professional affiliations.
• Keep equipment and workstations clean; adapt to changing business needs.
