Job summary

VisionWorks in New York is seeking an Optician’s Clerk/Assistant to help customers select frames and lenses while interpreting prescriptions. You will assist with insurance benefits, discuss frame and lens options, and ensure accurate pricing and service delivery in a busy retail optical setting.

The role requires a NY MA Apprentice permit, 0–3 months related experience, and the ability to work full time. Training and HIPAA compliance are part of daily duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have a current New York or Massachusetts Apprentice permit to practice.
• Copy of permit must be on file with the Human Resources Department.
• One to three months of related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

• Assist each customer in frame and lens selection.
• Provide customers with accurate product information regarding frames, lens selections and other services.
• Provide customers with information regarding benefits and charges related to Third Party insurance for proper selection of frames and lenses.
• Sell, fit and dispense frames and other accessories.
• Maintain a clean and orderly dispensing area.
