Job summary

The Boeing Company at Starfire Optical Range on Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM, seeks an Associate or Mid-Level Optical Design Engineer to lead design, simulation, and integration of high-precision optical systems. This onsite role supports advanced ground-based tracking and imaging with state-of-the-art telescopes.

Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (Top Secret eligibility) and 2+ years in optical design are required; 5+ years preferred for mid-level.

Qualifications

• Requires active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (or able to obtain) and Top Secret eligibility.
• 2+ years of optical design experience.
• Experience with design, development, testing, and troubleshooting of advanced Electro-Optical Systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform optical design, ray tracing, and wavefront modeling using industry-standard tools.
• Analyze optical performance including wavefront error, stray light, distortion across conditions.
• Design and validate complex optical systems in Zemax OpticStudio or Code V.
• Integrate optical designs with precision opto-mechanical mounts and sensors.
• Develop optical bench testing and interferometric verification against models.
