Job summary

Walmart Optics in Latham, NY is seeking an experienced Optical Department Leader to oversee sales, merchandising, pricing, inventory, and seasonal execution. You will drive revenue growth, supervise the optical team, and ensure high‑quality eyewear services under optometric supervision.

You will manage measurements, fittings, and contact lens education, uphold HIPAA and safety standards, and coordinate with labs and suppliers to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of college or equivalent experience.
• Supervisory experience in a retail setting required.
• Optical knowledge and customer service experience preferred.
• Maintain state licensure as Optician as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Leads department sales growth through effective merchandising, pricing accuracy, inventory oversight and seasonal execution.
• Forecasts sales trends and aligns product assortments with member needs and local demographics.
• Monitors competitive pricing and adjusts strategies to meet financial targets.
• Leads and coaches the optical team, ensuring high service standards and operational excellence.
• Oversees eyewear measurements, fittings, and contact lens education under optometric supervision.
• Ensures HIPAA compliance and maintains accurate documentation; manages quality assurance and equipment readiness.
• Coordinates with labs, suppliers and optometrists on orders and product updates.
