Job summary

AEG Vision is seeking an Optical Consultant to assist Optometrists and deliver exceptional patient care. You will perform preliminary patient evaluations, discuss visit reasons, and help coordinate referrals while maintaining accurate EHR records.

You'll schedule follow-ups, manage contact lens orders, and support daily operations, including post-exam tasks, billing checks, and ensuring smooth patient flow in a busy on-site practice.

Qualifications

• High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to details and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• PC skills including MS Office and Windows.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with co-workers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations prior to exam (dilation, topicals, diagnostic meds, imaging).
• Conduct verbal interview with patient to determine issues for the Optometrist.
• Schedule referrals and complete paperwork for specialists.
• Maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatment.
• Possibly perform diagnostic testing with equipment (OCT, Visual Field, etc.).
• Document findings in EHR and assist with medical documentation.
• Ensure schedule utilization via confirmations and recalls.
• Assist with contact lens fittings and orders.
• Handle end-of-day tasks and keep the practice tidy.
• May act as scribe for the Optometrist or assist with refractions.
