AEG is seeking an Optical Consultant to work with Optometrists, supporting patient care and education to ensure exceptional experiences. You will perform preliminary evaluations, conduct patient interviews, schedule referrals, and maintain HIPAA-compliant records.

Qualifications

• Must have High School or GED qualification.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with coworkers and patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform preliminary evaluations prior to exam by the Optometrist (dilation, topicals, diagnostic medications, Optomap, auto refractor, visual acuity).
• Conduct verbal interview with patient before visit to determine medical issues and reasons for visit.
• Schedule referrals with Ophthalmologists and follow-up visits; complete paperwork.
• Record and maintain patient records in compliance with HIPAA and policies.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding medications and treatments; refer to Optometrist as needed.
• Conduct diagnostic testing with equipment (OCT, Visual Field, Pachymetry, Retinal Camera).
• Document findings in EHR and assist with medical documentation; check CPT codes and billing.
