Medical Eyeglass Center, Inc. is hiring an Optician/Optical Associate to join our Homewood, AL team inside medical offices. You will guide patients through eyewear selection, fit and adjustments, and coordinate orders with clinic staff.

Responsibilities include processing orders, maintaining records, reviewing lab orders, submitting insurance claims, and promoting in-office marketing efforts. A high school diploma and optical experience are required.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret spectacle prescriptions (and contact lenses where applicable).
• Eyewear fitting, adjustments, and repairs as needed.
• Strong customer service and sales skills, including handling objections.
• Clear and professional verbal and written communication.
• Familiarity with MS Excel, email, and insurance portals (preferred).
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Team-oriented with ability to build relationships.
• Attention to detail and accuracy when filling prescriptions.

Responsibilities

• Provide patients with an outstanding eyewear experience from selection to fitting and adjustments.
• Accurately process and complete orders through MEC’s point-of-sale systems.
• Maintain detailed records of prescriptions, orders, payments, and insurance claims.
• Review and track lab orders to ensure timely and accurate completion.
• Submit insurance claims, post payments, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
• Dispense prescription and non-prescription eyewear (and contact lenses where applicable).
• Assist patients with eyewear adjustments, repairs, and cleaning.
• Maintain frame inventory, keep displays organized and stocked.
• Review daily patient schedules to anticipate volume and insurance eligibility.
