Job summary

IDEX Materials Science Solutions, a unit of IDEX Corporation, is seeking an Optical Assembly Technician 2 for precision optical assembly and alignment in a controlled clean-room environment. You will actively align optical elements, verify performance, and securely bond components to meet tight tolerances.

Candidates should have 3–5 years of hands-on optical assembly experience, strong metrology skills, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical certification or vocational training in optics preferred.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in precision optical assembly and alignment.
• Experience achieving micron-level alignment in production or lab settings.

Responsibilities

• Perform active alignment of lenses and optical elements into metal housings using precision fixturing.
• Use metrology tools to meet defined tolerances and verify optical/mechanical performance.
• Adjust decenter, tip, tilt, and axial position to specifications.
• Bond optics securely while maintaining alignment.
• Inspect optics and housings for defects and dimensional accuracy.
• Document alignment data and final build conditions.
• Provide technical feedback to improve processes and yield.
