Job summary

Gooch & Housego Cleveland is seeking a customer-focused Applications Engineer to bridge customers, sales and engineering. Based in Cleveland, OH, you’ll help define requirements, recommend optical solutions and support new product introductions from concept to production.

You’ll work with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain to deliver technically sound, manufacturable solutions and exceptional customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years in Applications/ Product Engineering or technical sales support in manufacturing.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specs and lifecycles; strong problem-solving.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
• Ability to present technical concepts to varied audiences and manage priorities.
• Experience with ERP/CRM/PLM systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical contact for customers through sales, development and product lifecycle.
• Assess customer requirements and propose optical solutions or customized products.
• Provide technical demonstrations and application support with the Sales team.
• Review specifications to ensure feasibility and manufacturability; support new product introductions.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and Supply Chain.
• Document engineering notes, specs and customer records; drive continuous improvement.
