BluePearl Pet Hospital in Sarasota, FL, is seeking an Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician to help diagnose and treat ophthalmic diseases in companion animals.

The role includes performing diagnostic tests, assisting with surgeries, administering anesthesia, educating clients, and maintaining ophthalmic equipment; pay ranges from $20–$40 per hour with a leveling system based on experience.

Qualifications

• Perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests and assist with exams.
• Support advanced testing and surgical ophthalmology procedures.
• Educate clients on eye conditions and aftercare.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests (tear quantity, glaucoma testing, ulcer testing) and help hold patients for detailed ocular exam.
• Set-up and assist with procedures and surgeries ranging from outpatient to complex.
• Place IV catheters during sedation or anesthesia and monitor anesthesia.
• Help organize ophthalmic equipment and educate clients on diseases.
