Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Newark, DE is seeking an Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician to diagnose and treat eye diseases in companion animals. You will work with a team of skilled veterinary professionals to advance our ophthalmology service and improve patients' vision and quality of life.

We offer a pay range of $22.00–$32.00 per hour, with starting pay based on experience and progression through our leveling system.

Qualifications

  • Perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests and assist with detailed ocular exams.
  • Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing as needed.
  • Set up and assist with outpatient and surgical ophthalmic procedures.
  • Assist with anesthesia and sedation; monitor patients during procedures.
  • Organize and maintain ophthalmic equipment and supplies.
  • Educate clients about their pet's ocular disease and care.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is hiring an exceptional Veterinary Technician in Ophthalmology

As an Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician, you will help diagnose and treat ophthalmic diseases in companion animals.

Pay: $22.00 - $32.00 / hour

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through our leveling system.

As An Ophthalmology Veterinary Technician, You Will
  • Perform basic ophthalmic diagnostic tests (tear quantity, glaucoma testing, ulcer testing) and help hold patients for detailed ocular exam
  • Perform advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing (retinal electrical function, etc.)
  • Set-up and assist with procedures and surgeries that restore comfort and vision ranging from outpatient procedures to basic and complex surgeries
  • Outpatient procedures: diamond burr debridement (to stimulate corneal healing), CO2 laser (to remove eyelid margin masses)
  • Surgical procedures including eyelid surgeries, cherry eye surgery, corneal grafts, cataract surgery, retinal surgery, glaucoma surgery
  • For patients undergoing sedation or anesthesia, place IV catheters and fluids, administer drugs through various route, perform and monitor sedation/anesthesia (with advances skills including constant rate infusions, paralytics, ventilation, etc.)
  • Anesthesia training is available with help or our anesthesia specialist
  • Help organize and maintain specialized ophthalmic equipment and supplies
  • Be the frontline in educating clients on their pet’s ocular disease and care
